Think Globally - Volunteer Locally!
World Services of La Crosse, Inc. invites you to join many local volunteers who enjoy sharing the Coulee region with people from other countries and like to learn about life in other nations.
Perhaps you would like to make it possible for your children, grandchildren, or friends to learn first hand about their world. Perhaps your neighborhood or work place would be interested in a one-on-one meeting with visitors from around the world. There are several different opportunities, and ways in which you can lend a hand.
Ways you can become involved -
- Assistance with local transportation
- Cultural tour of the area
- Orient volunteer host families
- Home Host for a meal or special event
- Home Host a delegate during their stay
- Escort the delegation during professional program days
- Assist with shopping and group social activities during the exchange
- Take the time to talk and share your experiences
- The possibilities are limitless!
- Volunteer time commitment ranges from several hours to several weeks as home-stay hosts
Upcoming Opportunities
May 12 - June 2, 2010
World Services of La Crosse will have the opportunity to host ten delegates from Moldova and to share healthcare services in the U.S., particularly on hospital management. Moldovan representatives will be exposed to the American healthcare system to see how it works towards increasing coverage, affordability, and accessibility This opportunity will provide new knowledge and skills in administration to further reform of Moldovan health care.

International YMCA and World Services of La Crosse will be bringing ten students from Dubna, Russia to La Crosse, WI under the Summer Work & Travel Program. The Summer Work & Travel Program gives students from all around the world an opportunity to experience life in the U.S. during their summer school break.
November 10 - 20, 2010
World Services of La Crosse will be hosting six delegates from Russia from November 10 - 20 in Minneapolis / St. Paul, MN. The delegation will be focusing on HIV treatment, prevention, and social support programs.
