Goal: To plan, procure equipment and supplies, train staff, and open two model primary care clinics in the Ukraine.
Major Achievements: On January, 21, 2001 two model primary care clinics were opened in Kharkiv and Korobichkino, Ukraine. Equipment and supplies were procured and shipped to provide efficient and quality care for patients of these clinics. Physician, nurse and other health care professional education and training has included care path development and implementation, quality improvement, prevention and health promotion and patient satisfaction.
Impact: The early detection of disease and early treatment intervention will hopefully make a significant impact on those in primary care clinic communities. Benchmark data is being collected to be able to specifically measure the treatment outcomes.
Additional highlights: Collaboration with the American International Health Alliance made this clinic opening possible.
Funding: This project and the following projects for the development of a University Counseling and Lifestyle Education Center, and Clinical Practice Guideline Training was funded as part of an $950,000 grant from the American International Health Alliance with funding from the U.S. Agency for International Development.
