“It isn’t enough to talk about peace. One must believe in it.
And it isn’t enough to believe in it. One must work at it.”
-- Eleanor Roosevelt
Building peace can often start with ensuring adequate health care or health education and prevention services are available. Teaming up with international healthcare partners, World Services is committed to improving the quality of life of residents in countries around the world, often facilitating collaboration needed between professional organizations and government agencies to achieve desired changes and program growth.
World Services works to improve developing countries' healthcare. With funding support from United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and World Learning / Caucuses, in 2009, a World Services consultant team designed and implemented a medical staff structure and leadership development training program for Kipshidze University Central Hospital in Tbilisi, Republic of Georgia.
World Services has also worked with international healthcare partners to create a Reproductive Health care delivery model in four Russian cities. In addition to focusing on “best practice” clinical care standards, the project consulting team also enhanced patient interviewing and counseling skills, and used surveys to improve both patient satisfaction and employee satisfaction as the clinic registration systems were enhanced, all are key elements in developing a country's healthcare system.
Other successes in developing a country's healthcare system:
The health of a community is fundamental to its success. Without health, communities cannot grow and flourish, and for this reason World Services has teamed with international healthcare partners and dedicated significant attention to improving the health of communities. In addition to consultation and special projects in developing countries' healthcare programs and services, World Services has also hosted delegations focused on Health Issues with the Community Connections Program and with the Open World Leadership Center.
Community Connections is sponsored and funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID); World Learning / FORECAST is the Programming Agent for USAID.
Managed by the independent Open World Leadership Center at the Library of Congress, the Open World Program is designed to enhance understanding and capabilities for cooperation between the United States and countries of Eurasia and the Baltic States.
