Exchange of U.S. and Chinese health care professionals
Goal: To provide exchange of medical practice ideas between Luoyang, China and La Crosse, Wisconsin health care professionals.
Major achievements: With this collaborative effort between our cities, we have experienced more than 20 exchanges of health care professionals between the Luoyang Affiliated Hospital of Luoyang, China and the two medical institutions in La Crosse. Exchanges have been in the areas of maxillofacial surgery, clinical biochemistry, abdominal surgery, patient management, hematology, emergency medicine, cardiology, cardiac surgery, physical medicine, nursing, general surgery, and nurse midwives. In addition, La Crosse City health personnel have begun relationships with the health leaders of Luoyang. The purpose is to build relationships that will help shape the health policies of Luoyang and hopefully be replicated and become a basis for the enhancement of improving human rights.
Funding: These exchanges have been jointly funded by the health institutions in the two cities and by U.S. individuals who pay their own travel expenses.
