Dr. Newcomer is recognized with Distinguished Alumnus Award
World Services of La Crosse, Inc is proud to announce that their Board Member Dr. Kermit Newcomer, has been recognized with the 2009 “Distinguished Alumnus Award” by Case Western Reserve, Medical School Class of 1959. Dr. Newcomer reports that his award resulted in part from the leadership he provided in developing teams that worked collaboratively to improve health care in the former Soviet Union. Dr. Newcomer was the first to teach the use of care paths in the development of the Quality Health Project that serves as a model for health care in Russia. His work in establishing primary care clinics in the rural Kharkiv, Ukraine regions has resulted in more than 250 villages replicating the model. His award is a tribute to his dedication and commitment to world peace and improving health care in developing countries.
